月といえば日本人は黄色を想像するが、アメリカ人は白を想像するよう。色に対する固定通念は文化によって違う。例えば小さな子が太陽を描くとき、日本では赤が使われることが多いが、アメリカでは黄色が使われる。他にもオレンジ色などは、アメリカ人にとっては、黄や赤ではなくて茶系の色として思われているらしい。あと最近日本で女の子の名前に「ルナ」というのを見かけるのだが、あれは大丈夫だろうか…と思う。Luna とはギリシャの月の女神のことで聞こえはきれいなのだが、人間の心を惑わす狂気の神とされていた。英語でもそれから派生してlunaticとは「異常な」という意味になってしまう。日本人の子なら素直に「月ちゃん」でいいのではないだろうか。それと日本語で「さくらちゃん」とはとてもきれいな名前なのだが、間違っても英語の「チェリーちゃん」にしないほうが良い。卑猥系の意味になってしまう。カタカナっぽい名前を選ぶなら多少注意が必要。
