Olaf Stapledon/odd John and Sirius
本の紹介です。昔、「オッド・ジョン」は早川文庫から出ていたのだが、今では絶版になってしまった。廃版の裏には当局か、どこぞの馬鹿官僚の陰謀が絡んでいるように思えてならない。何故なら、これはそれだけの内容を持った本。別に荒唐無稽のSFと解してもらってもさしつかえないのだが、中身は実に哲学的。オラフ・スティープルドンはもともとはSF作家ではなく歴史学者。H・Gウェルズやアイザック・アシモフより、ちょと古い時代の人間、ということはサイエンス・フィクションなんてジャンルは無かった頃の単なる小説だったわけだ。ん～、indifferentな諸君が怖がるのも無理もなかろう。
